An overview of the eight Victorian critical infrastructure sectors, including the key emergency risks, dependencies, and completed and proposed resilience improvement initiatives for each. The report also includes 5 case studies covering impacts to critical infrastructure and essential services from key emergency events in 2019-20 (bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic).

The second report reflecting the impact of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the responses taken by the Victorian Government up until the end of December 2020. The report finds a number of issues—pandemic preparedness, infection rates, contact tracing, economic consequences and increased pressure on the Victorian community services sector.

The Hazelwood Mine Fire Inquiry was conducted from February to September 2014 to inquire into the response to the 2014 fires which took hold in the Hazelwood mine as a result of embers spotting from bushfires. The Inquiry’s Terms of Reference required the Board to inquire into and report on a range of issues, including the origin of the fire, the firefighting response, fire prevention and preparedness measures taken by the owner, operator and licensee of the mine and regulatory agencies, the fire’s impacts on the health and wellbeing of affected communities, and the response to the health emergency.

A parliamentary committee appointed to inquire into and report on Victorian departmental and agency performance and operations of the year 2009 resolved to invite the Department of Health to give evidence at a public hearing with respect to the Department’s January 2009 Heatwave in Victoria: an Assessment of Health Impacts report. This report provides an overview of the Committee's public hearing with the Department in relation to its report, together with follow-up matters.

A report documenting the experiences of water managers across Victoria during the drought, it highlights the lessons learned about water planning and management. The report captures the steps taken to address low water resource availability and to ensure equitable, efficient and appropriate use of water, including changes to water resource management and investment in infrastructure, water efficiency and behavioural change programs. The report provides an insight into how the Victorian water entitlement and water planning framework was strengthened to manage future dry climate conditions.

An examination of COVID-19 contact tracing and outbreak management systems and processes in all states and territories. The report found significant improvements to systems and processes over the course of the pandemic but identified areas for further improvement. It also proposed an optimal contact tracing and outbreak management system for states and territories to evaluate performance against.
